Busty Urass

“My derby name, Busty Urass, is a subtle nod to one of my favorite Simpsons episodes, “Homer to the Max”. The episode revolves around Homer changing his name due to being teased because a bumbling character in a fictional show had the same name as him. He goes to court to have his name legally changed and after several ridiculous names are rejected, Max Power is finally accepted. The name is one he got off a hairdryer and was the only one he spelled correctly. The usual Simpsons hijinks occur and Homer changes his name back. But while at the courthouse he changed Marge’s name to “Chesty La Rue”. And if she didn’t like it, she can change it to “Busty St. Claire” or “Hootie McBoob”. The idea of coming up with a derby name was a bit like Homer’s. I had 20 ideas and none stuck or they were already taken.”

Binky BoomBoom

“Originally I really wanted a sci fi themed name but I have been called Binky by my family since the day I was born. I just couldn’t imagine trying to add a third name to respond to so I decided to make Binky work for derby. Just had to add something to it and I wanted something catchy, kind of kitschy, strong sounding and preferably all beginning with B. So I thought about names like Binky BadaBoom, Binky BadaBing, Binky BoomBang, Binky BamBam and none of them seemed right. BamBam, however, reminded me that I have always liked double names, like ChaCha DiGrigorio from Grease. Remember her? She was the best dancer at St. Bernadette’s. Anyway, it was remembering ChaCha that made me run thru all the double names you can imagine until I landed on Binky BoomBoom and it just felt right. It was me but with a lil extra splash of that something special. As for my number, I am the 8th of 11 children, picking #8 was easy peasy compared to deciding on my name. In the end, I’m really glad I chose Binky BoomBoom, couldn’t imagine being called anything else!”

Egg McMuff Punch .99¢

“My original derby name was the terrible Triple Ax-Her for my first season. Then a newbie came along and said she wasn’t brave enough to use Egg McMuff Punch, so I stole it.”
Mark your calendars!
We’re asking the community, our friends and family to help fund our biggest expense: our practice and home bout space. We currently practice twice a week and host one bout per month at our home location. Roller derby is a demanding sport and requires a lot of practice in order to compete safely. TCDS is a 501(c)3 organization so your donation is tax deductible!
Every little bit helps! Thank you for all your support.

Messer Up F0 Sh0

It was about a month after I started playing derby, after practice I was paying my dues to my league president. After I paid her she was writing me a reciept and asked what my last name was and I replied Messer. She looked up and said, ” like messer up?” I replied, “sure” and she told me my number could be 2bad. So for the first three years I was messer up # 2bad, then it was switched to messer up # f0 sh0 and now I have graduated to Messer #00 (on my jersey).
